Friday, August 10

I forgot to mention that I began reading The Penderwicks aloud yesterday. A big hit so far.

Another lesson in math and grammar.

Thursday, August 9

Today was our first official day of school.

We began the day by going to Chick-fil-a for breakfast. We discussed goals for the year. I ask the kids to make a personal and school goal. Robert wants to improve in math and show me more respect. Ruth also wants to improve in math and learn to control her temper.

For actual schoolwork, we kept it light - just math and grammar.

Ruth had a cello lesson.

Wednesday, May 24

Well, this is just embarassing. I'm glad I'm the only one reading this. :) My goal next year is to have all our schoolwork finished by the beginning of May. Knowing the public schools are done is playing havoc with my ability to accomplish anything.

I didn't start The Penderwicks. I completely forgot about it.

We did our SOTW 3 map of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Robert:

MUS L29B
Singapore Challenging Word Problems 2 - 2 problems

Ruth:

Saxon 5/4 up to part of L54
read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler - she loved it

I made up a list of what has to be done before the end of school happens. Here it is:

Grammar: done, unless I find that Ruth needs to know adjectives and adverbs for the CAT
Math: Robert - finish MUS Gamma (he's on lesson 29 and there's only 30)
Ruth - through L57 of Saxon 5/4 (maybe L62, too)
Writing: finish BJU ch 2 (3 lessons left)
History: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson notebook pages
finish reading about L&C

Konos is an extra we're doing. I'm not really considering it schoolwork.

Wednesday, May 23

I don't feel like we got much done today. I think I'm ready for the school year to be over. Blech.

I really need to pick a new read-aloud. We finished Justin Morgan Had a Horse last week (loved it!). Sonlight has Calico Bush scheduled and I just cannot get excited about that. Maybe Little House on the Prairie? I'll have to buy a new copy. Mine has fallen apart. Oh, wait. I know! I wanted to read The Penderwicks with the kids this summer. I'll start that tomorrow.

Let's see...

watched Presidents DVD - Thomas Jefferson
watched 30 minutes of PBS Lewis & Clark show
went to the library
no Konos done today

Robert:

MUS watched L29; L29A (done very quickly- yea!)
finished Meet Thomas Jefferson

Ruth:

Saxon 5/4 - corrected L51 & L52; worked on L53

Yep, I was right. Not much done.

Purpose

I created this blog to keep a log of what we do each day in school. Since I spend so much time on the computer, I thought this might be an easy way to keep records.

We'll see!
